Bouldering in Ireland is out of print

Yesterday I sold the last copy of the second edition of Bouldering in Ireland. As things stand it’s highly unlikely that I will print another run of this edition. That is not to say that the 3rd edition will be ready any time soon. I haven’t made much progress on it lately. I did publish the Scalp chapter in early May, but that is only a drop in the ocean really.

The Northern Lights

On Friday the 10th of May the Northern Lights made a rare and spectacular appearance in our skies, I managed to get a few photos from the back garden and posted a comparison showing what the photos looked before and after being edited.

The Island

I have managed to get over to the island twice in the last month, both times getting nice spells of very warm, settled weather. There are two posts (early May, late May) on the blog with a selection of photos and some updates on progress.

End of the 2 for 1 offers

I’m constantly trying to increase the sales and conversion rates on my website as I really rely on these direct sales and they are the ones that I have the most influence over. In the last few months I have offered a number of “two for one” offers, mostly giving away a free poster with each book ordered.

They were very generous offers I think, especially considering I also offer free shipping to the island of Ireland, a €5 discount for orders of two or more products and a 20% discount to subscribers to this newsletter.

And while the 2 for 1 offers have worked reasonably well, I’m going to try something different this month. There will be no freebies as such, but I’m offering a €10 discount for orders of two or more items. Still very generous I think.

New edition of Exploring Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way

Richard and I are currently working on an updated edition of Exploring Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way. Stocks are running low on the 2nd edition and we hope to have the 3rdedition ready before the end of the summer.

The plan is firstly check and update all the information in the book, so URLs, coordinates, confirm business are still open etc, access issues. Once that is done we will refresh photos as much as we can, we aren’t going to reshoot all the photos, but will give the book an makeover.
Then the major update – 42 pages on food and accommodation. This was something lacking from the original edition, to be honest a lot more option have sprung up that weren’t around 7 years ago. There are now a huge number of glamping sites, airbnbs, mobile saunas, cafes and food trucks. So will add them and finally there will be a new cover.
